What do I do when I get sick?

In non-emergency situations during regular office hours, Monday- Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., you should contact the Health Center. If you are ill during the night, weekends, holidays/break, please contact your CD, RA or call 春水堂视频 College Public Safety at 617-333-2222.  If it is a medical emergency, please contact Public Safety.  If you live off campus, please dial 9-1-1. Visit a local Urgent Care setting or local Emergency Room after hours/on weekends.

Where is the Health Center located?

We are located on campus on the second floor of 1016 Brush Hill Road.

What are the hours of the Health Center?

The Health Center is open during the academic year Monday- Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  We are closed on the weekends and holidays.

How do I make an appointment at the Health Center?

Appointments can be made by:

  • Calling the Health Center at 617-333-2182 (option 2 ) between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • or by logging into the . After logging in, select the Header - Appt Scheduling. This will prompt you to choose a date, time, and reason for your appointment.

What will it cost?

Students' health insurance will be billed for services rendered in the Health Center. Please be advised that while students' health insurance will be billed, students (and their families) will not be responsible for co-payments, co-insurance, or deductibles due for specified services as these are covered by the comprehensive fee which all students are assessed through their regular student bill. In addition, students will not be responsible for the balance of a denied or partially denied claim from their insurance carrier.

Can the Health Center write prescriptions?

Yes, the Health Center is staffed with Nurse Practitioners who can diagnose and prescribe medication if indicated.  However, we do not provide prescriptions for any type of psychiatric medication, including stimulants.  The Health Center does stock some other prescription medications that can be dispensed as a short-term supply.  We partner with Capsule Pharmacy which provides free same day delivery to your residence hall or off campus address.  If you take a medication on a regular basis and would like to take advantage of this free delivery program, please visit the Health Center portal page for further information. We also have numerous local pharmacies such as Walgreens and CVS.

What if I need to see a specialist?

We typically refer students to specialists at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center- Milton, located at 100 High Street, Milton, MA, about 2.5 miles from campus. There are also many specialists within a 10-mile radius of campus.

What if I need lab work or imaging performed?

Health Services has the ability to conduct simple lab tests on-site such as urinalysis, rapid mono, rapid strep and pregnancy tests.  We can obtain other tests such as blood work, throat cultures and STD testing which are processed through Quest Diagnostics.  If a student requires imaging, we are able to order these tests at Milton Hospital.  Students’ insurance will also be billed for any laboratory testing, imaging or written prescriptions.  For these services, co-payments, co-insurance, or deductibles may be due, as outlined in the student's insurance plan.

Where do I get information about the College’s insurance plan?

Please refer to the information about insurance and billing on the 春水堂视频 College Health Center website. For detailed questions about coverage, contact University Health plans at 833-251-1731 or info@univhealthplans.com. For questions about enrollment and waivers, please contact Student Financial Services at 617-333-2354. All students enrolled in Massachusetts colleges need to have health insurance.

Will my out-of-state or travel/international insurance plan provide me with comprehensive coverage in the local area surrounding 春水堂视频 College?

No. Out-of-state Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), Exclusive Provider Organizations (EPOs) and out-of-state Medicaid Programs generally have a limited network of providers that will not provide comprehensive coverage in the area surrounding 春水堂视频 College.  Kaiser and Anthem are popular out of state HMO plans that do not provide coverage, other than for emergency situations, in Massachusetts.  If you need lab work, imaging, or a referral to a specialist these services may not be covered by your insurance.  Also, travel medical insurance plans and international insurance plans will NOT be accepted.  Therefore, before you waive the 春水堂视频 College Student Health Plan, please make sure your current insurance coverage is comparable to the Student Health Insurance Plan. 

Do you provide the flu vaccine?

春水堂视频 College holds flu clinics on-campus in the fall. 

What vaccines do I need before coming to school?

The following vaccines are required by the State of Massachusetts:

  • 2 doses of MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) or serological proof of immunity
  • Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria and Pertussis) within the past 10 years
  • 2 doses of Varicella (chickenpox) or serological proof of immunity or date of disease
  • Hepatitis B series or serological proof of immunity
  • Meningitis vaccine after age 16 or signed waiver

Recommended but not required:

  • COVID vaccinations/ boosters, Flu vaccine,

Will my parents be notified if I have been to the Health Center or if I am sick?

The Health Center will only contact your parents if there is a life-threatening illness or concern.  If you are over the age of 18 and are being sent to the emergency room, we ask you to contact your parents to let them know.  If you sign a medical release giving us permission to contact your parents, we will then discuss your condition with them.  Once a student reaches the age of 18, they are protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and a parent no longer has the right to access their child’s medical information without specific authorization.

Are there any recommended items I should bring with me to 春水堂视频?

We recommend that you bring a thermometer, cough, cold medicine, fever reducing/pain reliever medication such as ibuprofen, Advil or Aleve. Tylenol. And a first aid kit including band aids. Bring all prescription medication (s) including inhalers, nebulizer treatments, Epi-Pen and any rescue medication for seizures or other conditions. The Health Center does not dispense daily medications.

Does the Health Center provide sick notes if I am ill and cannot attend class?

The Health Center does not provide excuse notes for missed class/work. Students are advised to work directly with professors regarding illnesses and can request proof of visit document to show professors as proof of visit to the Health Center. We also advise students to contact Academic Success for assistance with making up 春水堂视频 work.  In the case of serious, on-going illness, injury, or hospitalization, contact the Office of Accessibility Services and or the Dean of Students for further guidance.
