Dr. Julie Grady is an associate professor in the School of Nursing. She teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate programs in the School of Nursing. Her specialty is obstetrics. Dr. Grady is a Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, Certified Infant Massage Instructor, and a Board-Certified Clinical Nurse Leader. Her passion for family-centered care stems from her more than 24 years of clinical experience in caring for mothers, newborns, and families in the acute care setting.

Dr. Grady enjoys working with students in the classroom setting and with clinical faculty and students as a faculty clinical coordinator in various healthcare environments. As an educator, Dr. Grady consistently embraces a student-centered approach and supports all students in the teaching and learning environments, wherever that may be.

Dr. Grady is also the Director of the Master of Science in Nursing Program and Chair of the School of Nursing Educational Outcomes Committee.

Research Interests

Dr. Grady's doctoral dissertation focused on healthcare providers' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors toward women with perinatal substance use disorder. Her scholarly pursuit has led her to work to improve outcomes for all mothers and babies through a variety of international initiatives.
